How to seem editI use P2K Tools to transfer seems between the computer and phone and XVI32 to edit the seems. First you should find the flash or monster pack or flex you want to use, if you don't like what is already on your phone. You don't want to seem edit first, and then later on find a different flash or monster pack or flex that you'd rather have. You'd have to seem edit all over again.Seems control the basic function of the flex by activating and deactivating features on the phone. Seem "0032_0001" is used as an example. It is also one of the most important seems you'll come across. Start P2K Tools. These screen shots are from the older version of the program. Click the large button on the left that says "Seem Editor". |
Now go to the bottom right part of the program where it says "Seem:" and enter the
seem you want in the two boxes. In this case I want seem "0032_0001".
In the "num:" box enter "0032" and in the "rec:" box enter "0001". Then click
the "Load From Phone" button.
It will load the seem into the built in editor, but I don't use it because its got some bugs in it. What I do is save the seem to the computer, edit it there and then upload it again through P2K Tools. So now, click the button "Save to File". The save dialog box opens, find a place to save the seem. Leave the value "xxxx_yyyy.seem" in the "File name:" box as is and click the "Save" button. Start XVI32. Click on "Tools", and click on "Options". Then click on the "Data Inspector" tab. Make sure the "big-endian (Motorola)" radio button is checked. Now that that's done, open the seem "0032_0001" that you just saved. Notice at the bottom left corner of the screen it says "Adr. hex: 1D". "1D" is the address of the offset that the cursor is currently on. If you look above on the left side of the screen and find the blue square with the number "30" in it, that is where the cursor currently is. This is the address you are going to modify. So, the current value of offset "1D" is "30". Now if you move the cursor in any direction you will see its address change down below accordingly. That's how you find an offset. Go to the tool bar menu. Click "Tools" and then "Bit manipulation...". The "Bit manipulation" window pops up. Each value from "0" to "7" is called a bit. Depending on the seem you are editing, you will either check or uncheck the corresponding box next to the bit. After that, click the "Set" button and save the edited seem "0032_0001". If you get seem editing instructions like: "004a_0001 > offset 22 [Set 01]" somewhere outside of this guide, then all you have to do is find offset "22" and then manually type "01" in its two-digit box. You do not go into the bit manipulator to enter "01". Verify everything you do.Now go back to P2K Tools and click the "Load From File" button. Now find where you just saved your seem on the computer, highlight it and click the "Open" button. Now click the "Save To Phone" button. Now click the "Restart" button. If you want to see some modifications you can perform by seem editing then check out the two modding pages on this site. If you discover something you want to change with a seem edit, see if you can change it through the various menus on the phone first. There are seem edits documented out there (like changing your phone's Bluetooth name) which can be done with a lot less hassle by just going to the Bluetooth menu directly on the phone and modifying it through the phone's keypad. I learned how to seem edit years ago from MotoX at this tutorial he wrote. This ends the "seem edit" section of this tutorial. |
