Bags 14 and 15 had just three small pieces that were a different color than they should have been, black for gray.
Bag 16 is when you build the cockpit. In Step 1150 there are (2) 1 x 2 bricks in red that are used on the bottom.
You might want to swap out the left brick for a light bluish gray to blend in with the rest of the bricks as it is
visible through a gap in the slopes. In my picture you would have seen it just below the 1 x 6 dark gray tile.
This was a very straight-forward build with no real issues. Overall I noticed some of the longer plates were slightly
bowed which made the integrity of the panels covering the mandibles not as sturdy as I'd like. However if you
review the construction guide the designers just don't do a great job of securing these large panels to the Technic
frame. Don't even get me started on how sloppy the upper hull plates just lay in place. I'd like to see a cleaner
solution to what they did. Considering this is mounted on the Efferman stand I'm surprised that all the plates stay
in place - even when I picked it up to move it from the building area to the shelf it now sits on. If anything is going
to fall it's going to be that upper piece between the mandibles with the "wings".
I probably have just over 100 authentic Lego pieces incorporated into this build. Some 30 pieces were missing. There
was one particular Lepin part I didn't care for (just a nitpick on my part). This is part 99563 "Minifigure, utensil ingot
bar". It is used starting at Step 666 and 70 of them are needed through the build. You can obtain them for 3 to 5
cents a piece.
When I look at the Millennium Falcon completed I am so glad I purchased this Lepin kit. I would kick myself if I paid $850
for the Lego version. It's just not worth it to me for a bunch of plastic bricks. I'm considering getting the new 2019
UCS Star Destroyer and I will purchase the Lepin version or I just won't get it.
