The Build

  • Engine exhaust vents

On the filming model of the Millennium Falcon the side exhaust vents (two on the left and two on the right) have the grates oriented at a diagonal, and not the angle that Lego used pictured to the left.

If you look closely, you'll also notice that the 1 x 2 light bluish gray plates stick out at the top corners from underneath the "tile, round corner 4x4 Macaroni wide" pieces on each vent. This is a really easy fix. Note in my pictures I used different colors, and in one picture smooth-top round plates instead of ones with studs. Here's what you can use:

    1. (16) Plate, Round 1 x 1 4073 light bluish gray for the two vents facing the correct direction.

    2. (49) Plate, Round 1 x 1 4073 light bluish gray for the four vents that needs to be angled.

    3. (4) Turntable 2 x 2 Plate, Top 3679 black for the four vents that need to be angled.

    4. (4) Turntable 2 x 2 Plate, Base 3680 black for the four vents that need to be angled.

Below are pictures to walk you through every vent and how to modify it. There are of course many solutions to this issue and this was the simplest method to use for me. You can also check out that Eurobricks forum thread for other ideas.
